When TVB meets Hollywood
I am a fan of TVB, also a fan of Hollywood movies. When I watch too much TV and movies, I can always find the similarities. Sometimes, TVB adopts the ideas from the Hollywood movies in order to make the series better. We saw lots of successful examples, such as TVB's "Angels of Missions" and Hollywood's "Charlie's Angels".
Today, I was watching "La Femme Desperado", and I found this very sweet scene, when Raymond wrote some signs to tell Melissa how much he loves her. That scene was in episode 8, and when I saw the scene, I immediately recognized it, because TVB adopted the scene from the movie "Love Actually". Maybe, lots of you haven't watch that movie yet, but here goes the similarities:
The People
LFD - Raymond Lam and Melissa Ng
Love Actually - Andrew Lincoln and Keira Knightley
The Place
LFD - At the restaurant
Love Actually - At Keira's front door
The Signs - see the screen captures ;-)
LFD - Raymond to Melissa: "I always want you to be with me"

Love Actually - Andrew to Keira: "To me you are perfect"

The Differences
LFD - Raymond and Melissa are in love with each other
Love Actually - Andrew and Keira are just friends, Keira married to someone else
The Impact
I love how LFD adopted this scene, maybe the producer watched Love Actually, or maybe not. But you can tell, it's very similar. Especially this one sign, when Raymond says, "or maybe, you will become...", then he shows up a very ugly picture to make Melissa laugh.

In Love Actually, Andrew also has this sign says, "until you look like this...", then a very strange looking ugly picture that also made Keira laugh... What a coincidence!

lol...good comparisons. Saw "Love Actually" myself, but haven't seen LFD yet. Cute. This is off topic, but did Raymond really write those chinese characters himself or someone else's handwriting? Whoever it is, it's really nice. =D
