air ratings and series

It is understandable if a not-so-good series get a bad air rating result, but it is hard to understand why a goos series also get a poor air ratings? Into Thin Air falls into the category of an awesome series, but its air ratings were only average around 27 point. The series has a great story, great cases, great actors and actress. Why did it get bad ratings? Sometimes, I am just wondering why air ratings are such a big deal to TVB. But, a bad rating doesn't mean the series isn't good....

Into Thin Air is my most current recommendation to everyone, you guys have to watch this series. It has twists, scary moments, suspence, romance, and emotional stories. I also found Kenneth Ma very cute, if everyone agrees that Bosco Wong is the most improved star in ancient series, then Kenneth Ma got to be the most improved star in modern series. His character is just way too cute.

New series filming + sequel rumors

Who said you can't have short hair when filming an ancient series? I am not too sure which dynasty allows men to have short hair, but Kevin and Bosco are going to keep their short hair somehow... Yeah, strange indeed.

As for filming sequels, lots of rumors are flying around recently. But there are some confirmations as well. For sure, there will be a "Triumph in the Skies II" (Ron is the only confirmation for staring that sequel). TVB is also thinking filming "The Gentle Crackdown II", "War of In-Laws II". TVB also said they want to film a 80 episode drama, perhaps next year, not sure what is it about.

TVB Anniversary Awards

There will be some changes about the TVB Anniversary awards. They get rid of the 12 most favorite characters award and Best Chemistry award. There will be only: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Most Improved Male, Most Improved Female, Best Series, Best Foreign Series, Best Variety Show and Best Acting Career award. According to some source, there will be 14 awards total.

The three anniversary shows:
BENEATH THE CHARM (30 episodes) Cast: Moses Chan, Gigi Lai, Yoyo Mung, Anne Heung, Mandy Cho & Sharon Chan ---- well, from the cast, you can see this is a show about a guy with 5 girls, clearly, it is a female type show. What other guys are out there? Anyways, I am supporting this one fully, even though I have no love for Yoyo, or Anne or Mandy. But I love the poster, and the title, so let's hope this is going to be a good one.

LIFE MADE SIMPLE (32 episodes) Cast: Roger Kwok, Jessica Hsuan, Bosco Wong, Leila Tong, Raymond Cho & Lo Yuen Yan ---- first of all, I hate the poster, second of all, I hate Roger's hair cut. But, I still put lots of expectations to this one because I am a big fan of Bosco, Leila and Jessica. I am not sure what will be showing for 32 episodes, consider the fact that Square Pegs only lasted 20 episodes. Oh well, let's hope to see Bosco and Leila share lots of screen scenes...

REAL KUNG FU (20 episodes) Cast: Yuen Biao, Maggie Siu, Leung Kar Yan, Gordon Liu, Jack Wu & Timmy Hung ---- did TVB get lazy about translating a English name for a series? Real Kung Fu just doesn't make any interest out of me. Then, analyzing the casts, I only found Maggie Siu, who will drag me to watch this one. But, the poster reminded me of "Find the Light", since I am a big fan of that one and a big fan of Maggie, I might give this series a chance? I still don't know why this one get to be an anniversary show? Is it because of Yuen Biao?

Currently airing:
INTO THIN AIR (20 episodes) Cast: Miu Kiu Wai, Melissa Ng, Kenneth Ma, Bernice Liu, Power Chan & Hui Siu Hung ---- have you notice Melissa is getting more and more leading roles now? More like one after another. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Sometimes, I am getting tired of seeing her in one show after another. Hey, I don't even watch Ron or Raymond series back to back, why should I watch her series back to back? Anyways, I will watch this one, but maybe next month.

May or may not aired this year:
LETHAL WEAPONS OF LOVE AND PASSION (40 episodes) Cast: Raymond Lam, Charmaine Sheh, Sonija Kwok, Bosco Wong, Sharon Chan & David Chiang ---- When is this series EVER going to come out?! I have been waiting for it for the entire year, and I haven't get any news about when it will get aired! Hello! It is getting towards the end of the year now. Usually, TVB doesn't air any grand production towards the end of the year. So, how much longer do I have to wait?

ALWAYS READY (30 episodes) Cast: Ekin Cheng, Bowie Lam, Charmaine Sheh, Shirley Yeung, Lai Lok Yi & Linda Chung ---- I am sending lots of good luck wishes to this series, which has very very little chance of airing in 2005. If it didn't come out in time, I can't nominate Ekin for the year's most welcomed come-back star in my year end poll. Ok, people, we are in October already...

TRIMMING SUCCESS (20 episodes) Cast: Kevin Cheng, Nadia Chan, Sharon Chan, Wayne Lai, Lau Dan & Ching Ho Wei ---- Let's hope this one won't ending up as a "warehouse series (not aired in Hong Kong)" since I am a big fan of Nadia and Kevin. The Chinese name of this series is really interesting, so I have to watch it, see you in 2006! Pretty sure this one will not be aired this year.

WHEN RULES TURN LOSE (20 episodes) Cast: Liza Wang, Myolie Wu, Sammul Chan, Har Yu, Wayne Lai & Patricia Liu ---- Looking at the poster, it reminds me a lot of "Survivor's Law", Myolie even cuts her hair short, just like the hair style she had in "Survivor's Law", that's OK, I can handle it, since it is only 20 episodes. Again, see you in 2006...

New series filming - October

Starring: Steven Ma, Moses Chan, Sonija Kwok, Tavia Yeung. The casts look familiar? Reminds you of "Where the Legend Begins"? Well, I am glad that Steven is back with TVB. But, the outfits in this series just look strange...

TVB Anniversary... awaits

About a month and half later, TVB will be celebrating its 38th anniversary. A lot of people asked me about my predictions, well, I can't say I am really good at the TVB Anniversary award predictions, because TVB will always think about something to surprise you. But there are lots of characteristics TVB won't miss, such as:
1) the contracted actor or actress always have more chance of winning
2) if the series has a better air rating, the stars in the series always have more chance of winning
3) the stars who won last year were not likely to win anything big this year
4) if the star decide not to show up at the anniversary, he or she is not going to win an award

Now, let's take a look at the most improved award first. I think this one is pretty easy to predict. Bosco Wong should be the sure win here, if he doesn't win, TVB really got a problem. As for female most improved, it is between Bernice Liu and Niki Chow. I prefer Niki, but TVB might decide to give the award to Bernice. The best chemistry in a drama got to be Myolie Wu and Bosco Wong, I don't know who else can win that one.

Ok, more predictions: for the top five actors --> Bowie, Moses, Joe Ma, Roger, Michael Miu. Dark horse: Michael Tao. Who is going to win? I am predicting Moses Chan
for the top five actress --> Jessica, Gigi, Charmaine, Kenix, Lisa Wong. Dark horse: Myolie Wu. If Charmaine didn't make into the top five, Myolie could. Who is going to win? My prediction is Kenix Kwok, hopefully.
