Watch list of March

I am in the middle of Shades of Truth, and I promise I will finish it soon, because I am in love with that series for now. Chilam is so funny! I love the way he tries to get Wong Hei's attention (he wants Ah Hei to recover the memory of his previous life), and then Ah Hei tries to hide away from Chilam because Ah Hei thought Chilam is gay. That just cracks me out!

It is interesting to know the fact that, My Family is so popular, and got really high air ratings, so I had to watch that series, because I want to know why that series is so popular. Plus, I am in love with that themesong sang by Alex Fong (the singer, not the actor, duh!)

For sure, I will watch Love Bond too, I was surprised to learn that Moses Chan can sing, he sang the themesong, hehe.. but I like the sub-themesong more, which sang by Michael, Bernice, Moses and Kenix. I had no idea that either one of them can sing. But, the sub-themesong turned out to be great! After watching the themevideo, Love Bond reminds me a lot of Shine on You and Family Man, so I have to watch it!

Oh by the way, "The Academy" (starring Ron and Tavia) will be out in 4/11, the themesong is by Ron and someone else (don't know who yet), the subthemesong is by Ron (gosh, I can not wait any longer!)

Million Dollar Baby

I felt so good after watching last night's Oscar. I was right on target for this year's big winners. Yes, that does make me a great critic, and an awesome predictor (for Oscar only, hehe). And, the best thing is, my favorite movie (Million Dollar Baby) wins the best picture! That just made my whole week happier! Not only that, Chris Rock's awesome opening speech just made me feel so great! He was a great comedian, I love the way he talks about the war, Bush and that 3.7 trillion dollar debt. (In case you have no idea what I am talking about, you can skip this blog entry)

WATCH MILLION DOLLAR BABY, I promise you that you will cry your eyes out!

What am I Watching - 2/26

I just finished watching Striket at Heart, to me, that series was a disappointment. Maybe, I expect too much from that series, but I got nothing return. So, I decided not to write the review for it... but, in case someone wants to hear my comments for that series, here it goes: try not to watch it... Well, if you still want to, watch it for Nadia, Annie and Charmaine. I was expecting Nadia to have a big scene, but she didn't appear until episode 5, and she died in episode 15, that is just so wrong! The Annie-Sunny chemistry is not too bad, I like Annie a lot. For Charmaine, her character went through a lot of things: love-hate-revenge-remorse and dying. She loves for Joe, hates for Joe, feels remorse for Stephen because she revenges on Joe, then she dies for nothing. But, my only favorite scene in the series was between Charmaine and Stephen in the last episode, where Charmaine told Stephen about how she got the kung fu book for him. Yeah, she sacraficed a lot, because she feels remorse. Both of them had a good crying scene in that moment, pretty touching too. The thing I can never understand is: Why pair Charmaine with Joe Ma, they have zero chemistry! As for Stephen, he is good at being evil, but he is not so good at being crazy. Stephen, I do love you, but I don't like you being crazy, hehe...

I am now watching Shades of Truth, that series is very funny so far, I love Wong Hei and I love Chilam!

Oscar Weekend

Finally, Oscar weekend is here! I managed to watch most of the movies that got nominated, but I still didn't get the chance to watch them all. But for me, I want "Million Dollar Baby" to win the best picture! I love that movie more than "Aviator". For Best Actor, I was thinking Leo, but he is too cute to win an Osca, so I will go for Jamie Foxx. Best Actress is Hilary Swank's sure win.

too much of a February

Just to tell you the truth, February is one of my favorite month of the year.

As an NBA fan, I was celebrating Dallas Mavericks' 5-0 road trip (hey... in case you don't know. The Dallas Mavericks is my favorite NBA team). I was also celebrating NBA All-Star game last weekend. (However, the All-Star game was little disappointing last night, I can't believe the East beat the West! )

As a movie fan, I am going to celebrate Oscar in the coming weekend. By the way, my favorite movie of the year is "Million Dollar Baby", gosh, I cried my eyes out during that movie! I just love the movies that tortues me! (Watch this movie if you haven't!!!!) However, that movie will not win the best picture, but I do hope Clint Eastwood wins the best director, and Hilary Swank wins the best actress (she is awesome!)

Other than watching my NBA games, and catching up with most of the Oscar nominated movies, I am also trying to study my mid-term exam, as well as watching TVB series and updating the website. Gosh, do I ever have free time?

Gathering Ideas for TVB Square's Birthday

March 27, TVB Square will be celebrating it's birthday (3 years old ~.~ still young, still needs lots of milk to grow up).

I am beginning to gather some celebration ideas, such as contests, polls, and volunteer works. So far, I am thinking to motivate people to design banners for TVB Square. You see the banner at the front page of TVB Square? The banner represents the series I am currently watching. I was so happy to know that people are willing to create banners for me, so I want to take that to the next step (currently thinking about a banner contest).

Contests are always the best ideas, because I have so many posters I want to give away ~.~ So, I need some good ideas for contests... (contact me at
tvbsquare@hotmail.com or leave comments here)

Happy New Year

As you all know, today is the new year celebration (Year of the Chicken) for the Chinese, and also for most of the Asians. This morning, I found myself something red to wear, and something new as well. Today is suppose to be a holiday for me, and yet, I have to go to work, have to go to school, have to finish my long, stupid assignment, and I have to finish watching "Number 1 in the World" for my own pleasure...

For the year of chicken, everyone suppose to wake up early, I guess. Since the chicken all woke up early, so we should do the same thing, aren't we?

What's showing in Hong Kong

Let's start with the hot series "Wong Hei Hung", it is a surprise to me, that series gained a lot of air rating points. I guess Bosco takes the complete credit, because he is the best one in the show. But, the storyline of that series wasn't that interesting, plus I don't like the Bosco-Rain Lee chemistry... oh, well... I believe that series will ending up gaining a very high air-rating in the last episode, because that is the best episode of the series.

I don't know the air rating of the new series "My Family" yet, because it just released in Hong Kong. But, I do not have any interest to see that series.

Now, let's talk about two of the Korean series, which is aired right now. "Jewel in the Palace" and "Full House". If you are a Korean series fan, you have to watch both of them. If you are not, you still want to watch both of them! However, Jewel in the Palace is so long, you need lots of patients to view that series. Full House is so funny, and the characters are so cute...

Finally, let's talk about the series will be aired after Wong Fei Hung: that will be "Lost in the Chamber of Love". This will be aired in the valentine's day. What a nice way to promote the series! Well, I don't think this one will top Wong Fei Hung's air rating, but I am still hoping for a good air-rating, since I am a big Ron fan...

What am I watching?

I am at episode 37 of "Number One in the World", still have 3 episodes left, and yes, I will post a review of this series, because I am in love with the series! To the Michelle fans, you will love this series to death, so go rent it! True, the Wallace-Michelle chemistry shines the entire story. I love both of them, it is a tragic that they did not end up together... (well, the details of this will be in my review). Give me two more days, I will post the review up!

Guess what? TVB is making another "Square Pegs", Roger will go crazy again! And, this time, Bosco will be playing his brother, ha! this must be good ~.~

Copyrights

The whole thing about "DOWNLOADING TV SERIES" is driving me crazy! It should, because it totally destroies the term called "COPYRIGHTS". Have you ever realized that people are breaking laws by providing TV series for download?! Have you ever realized that you are a victim if you are trying to find a place to download TV series?! It's WRONG! It's against the law, but I don't think anyone cares. (when it comes to law, no one seems to care).

So, let's put the law aside, and think about it morally. If fans are keeping downloading, that means, they will not watch the series on TV (the air rating will drop), or rent the series in rental stores (the rental store revenue goes down), or buying the series in stores (the overall sales goes down). All these will destroy the future of television shows! How can you support something so dearly (you are a TVB fan, aren't you?!), but ending up destroying every espects of it?

THINK ABOUT IT! THINK IT HARDER!

To & Not TO watch list of Feburary

To watch list: Currently, I am watching "Number One in the World", still trying to finish watching it, and I can't wait to finish it. After that, I will be watching "Shades of Truth", since that series is completely released already. No matter how bad the air rating was, I still want to watch that one, because I am a big fan of Wong Hei and Chilam. (Yes, both of them are hot). Next, I will be watching "Legend of Fairy and Sword" (I have the themevideo at my site), that is the make-over of the most popular Chinese PC game, the special effects looks interesting, and I heard the series is not bad either. "Strike at Heart" is my number one priority in the to watch list, but I still want to wait untill it is completely released.

Not to watch list: The new TVB series, "My Family", well, the only cast I like from that series is Shirley Yeung. I don't really care about anyone else in that series, so I decide not to watch it. What about "Sunshine Heartbeat"? No, I refuse to watch it!!!!

My Blog, My Time...

Well, did you see the cute logo I created for this blog? If you go to TVB Square website, you will see it. I wanted to promote this blog, this was why I created the logo, and trying to put it everywhere in TVB Square website. Why do I want to promote this blog? Is that means I am updating it everyday? Well, I am trying NOT TO (but I will update OFTEN), because of my no-time struggle (please read "Too much of work, too much of success", you will understand my pain). However, I think this blog is a great tool to share my thoughts and my recommendations (believe me, I have A LOT of those!!!!) to all of the fans out there.

TVB Square's Current Recommendation - Feb 01, 2005

Recently, I am watching some mainland series, don't be surprised, I don't just watch TVB series. My current recommendation to all of you is: Tian Xia Di Yi (if translated into English, the name is "Number One in the World"), you can actually download the themevideo from TVB Square's Downloads section.

The series starring the number one guy from Hong Kong: Roger Kwok(the one and only), the number one guy from mainland: Li Ya Peng (ok, he is not cute!), the number one guy from taiwan: Wallace Huo (gosh, he is such a hottie, and he can sing! the themesong is sang by him), the number one girl who likes to dress herself as a man: Michelle Yip, and the number guy knows how to hide his evil identity: Damian Lau.

Why do I recommend this series? Reason 1: the story is great! Reason 2: Roger Kwok is so funny, I loved his chemistry with Chen Yi Rong. Reason 3: I finally found a better chemistry that can top the Raymond-Michelle chemistry, that is the Wallace-Michelle chemistry, the guy is hot, the girl is pretty, come on, what else do you expect? Reason 4: it is a tragic! I love tragic stories! Lots of pretty girls died, oh yes, watching the guys suffer is such a plessure!

Too much of work, too much of success

I am glad that TVB Square is becoming a very successful TVB fan site, it is popular (consider the fact that my hit counter already passes half a million), also big (consider the fact that it is popular in Google, if you are searching for a tvb series, you are very much likely to find TVB Square website), however, TVB Square has the one and only webmaster, that is me! Can you imaging how did one person running this entire site?! Yes, I got no help, I got no time, I am still in school, I also got part time job, and yet, I have to manage the time to watch series, as well as updating the website. How can I do it?! I don't know, but I am doing it for more than 2 years now (almost 3 years).

Why didn't I asking for help? Well, who do I trust out there? I know there are a lot of die-hard TVB fans, who wants to help, but, managing a big site needs lots of effort, lots of committment, and lots of trust. It is hard, trust me!

How can my job be little easier? Well, people, stop writing bad comments in my TVB Votes polls! I can understand sometimes you hate some artist to the bone, and you want to express your feelings. But, that just gave me extra work, because I have to read your bad comments, and delete them! How do I have the time?! I don't!!!!

My job is already overloaded, but I am still hanging here, trying my best to do the website. The reasons why? I am more than a die-hard TVB fan!

TVB New Generation

As we all know, lots of faces changed in the recent TVB series. Lots of old faces disappeared. Many new stars signed long-term contracts, many old stars chose to leave. So, I will like to talk about the new generation of TVB

(1) 2R: Raymond and Ron - these two are the most popular ones among the new generation. The fans of them are increasing every single day. They got more and more leading roles as their series came out one after another.
(2) 2M: Myolie and Michelle - true, TVB promotes Myolie more than Michelle, however, both of them were great in the line up of the new generation. Both of them are pretty, both of them are kind, both of them paired with Raymond and Ron before.
(3) 2B: Bosco and Bernice - they are getting more leading roles, and they are great at leading roles. Bosco is the guy with the talents, Bernice is the girl with the skills. We want to see more of them!
(4) 2K: Kevin and Kenneth - one of them is the hottie, the other one is the cutie. Kevin got so much promotion right now, he is hot, he is super, he is great. Kenneth is climbing up slow, but high, he is cute, he is sweet.
(5) 2Y: Shirley and Tavia - their last names are both Yeung, this is why I call them "2Y". Shirley was the most improving star of this year, Tavia was the one last year. Both of them are pretty, both of them improved so much throughout the years.
(6) L,M&N: Leila, Mandy and Nancy - they are cute, they are pretty, and they got promoted very much lately. Leila got lots of skills and talents, we will love her more. Mandy still needs improvements, we will see her soon! Nancy is the one we all loved, we hope to see her more!
(7) 2SC: Sharon Chan and Samual Chan - these two are still the supporting stars, but they are getting better. No surprise that TVB is promoting these two.

The "warehouse" series of 2004

Every year, there are couple shows, which will only release as tapes/vcd/dvd in mainland and overseas countries, but never aired in Hong Kong. These are called warehouse shows, which means the shows got stuck in the warehouse and never gets aired. Why? There are various reasons, including not enough investment, contracting issues, story-line issues, etc.

In 2004, there are number of warehouse series, including: Net Deception, Placebo Cure, Riches and Stitches, Summer Heat

My favorite warehouse series of the year is Net Deception, I think that shouldn't be a warehouse series, the story was great, the performances from Wong Hei and Myolie were excellent. If that show got aired, I am sure it will be a success.

Poor Joyce Tang, who finally got leading roles in Placebo Cure and Summer Heat, however, both of them didn't got aired. I like Placebo Cure a lot more, but I hate the way that series ended. Summer Heat is such a waste of time, no wonder why that is a warehouse series.

The Must See 2005 TVB Series

2005 is here! Lost TVB series will be coming out! Which ones do you HAVE TO SEE?! Here are my top 10 list and my reasons why.

(number 10) Strike at Heart - Joe Ma, Stephen Au, Sunny Chan, Charmaine Sheh, Nadia Chan, Annie Man. Nadia is back! Sunny is back to the ancient series!
(number 9) Scavenger's Paradise - Roger Kwok, Myolie Wu, Kenneth Ma. Funny Roger is back again. How funny can he be this time? Who's paradise is this?
(number 8) Misleading Track - Bowie Lam, Deric Wan, Louisa So. The evil Deric is back and finally! Will Bowie and Louisa survive?
(number 7) The Gentle Crackdown - Niki Chow, Moses Chan, Wayne Lai. The girl's power + a useless royal = what kind of chemistry?
(number 6) Food for Life - Raymond Lam, Charmaine Sheh, Kevin Cheung, Tavia Yeung. There are couple of series about making food, and all of them were good. Now, it's the new generation's term. New stars making their new chemistry
(number 5) Guts of Man - Ron Ng, Sammual Chan, Mandy Cho. Yesterday they were the friends, today there were the enemies. Sounds familiar? With the line up of the new stars, plus the old stars (Yuen Wah + Joyce Coi), we got a good expectation
(number 4) My Grandmother (English name unknown) - Liza Wong, Myolie Wu, Bosco Wong. It is ancient series, it will be funny, it is like the sassy grandmather meets the cute couple (Myolie + Bosco)
(number 3) Leathal Weapons of Love and Passion - Raymond Lam, Bosco Wong, Charmaine Sheh, Sonija Kwok, Sharon Chan. A remake of the famous Kungfu novel + new paring couple: Raymond & Charmaine + evil Sonija (once again)
(number 2) Revolving doors of Vengence - Joe Ma, Kenix Kwok, Ron Ng. Vengence, that is a strong word, and it reminds me about ATE a lot. Who is the victim? The answer is Ron. Now, I just can not wait any longer to see the "bad" side of him!
(number 1) The Academy - Ron Ng, Tavia Yeung, Sammual Chan. Remember Police Cadet? This one is going to be the new generation of the Police Cadet. We got the new faces (Ron + Sammual + Tavia), we also got the come-back artist (Miu Kiu Wai)

Strike at Heart

Starring: Joe Ma, Stephen Au, Sunny Chan, Charmaine Sheh, Nadia Chan, Annie Man
Who pair with Who: Joe - Charmaine - Stephen; Annie - Sunny
Who is the villain: Stephen
Thumbs up: I totally loved the chemistry between Charmaine and Stephen in "Angels of Mission", now they are going to pair again!
Thumbs down: Charmaine and Joe Ma, do you think they are going to have chemistry?
